Lettering: 10,001 lbs. GVWR and up. Name of business . city & state
US DOT number: 10,001 lbs. GVWR and up, required on any commercial vehicle, gas or diesel powered, traveling interstate.
Health Card: Required for operator of vehicles 10,001 lbs. GVWR and up.
Driving License: Regular driving license is valid up to 26,000 lbs. GVWR provided the vehicle does not carry hazardous material requiring placards or more than 15 passengers.
Log Book: Required above 10,001 lbs. GVWR and beyond 100 air miles radius or if not relived of duty within 12 hours of reporting location.
Safety Equipment:
Chock Blocks - 7,000 lbs. GVWR and up (not required with air parking brakes)
Fire Extinguisher - 10,001 lbs.GVWR and up.
Spare Fuses (if vehicle is not equipped with circuit breakers) - 10,001 lbs. GVWR and up.
Triangle Kit - 10,001 lbs. GVWR and up.
Fuel Permits (IFTA Licenses): Required for any vehicle 26,001 lbs. GVWR or more. All States; Must file quarterly reports stating total miles traveled, total gallons of fuel purchased and a breakdown, by state, for those miles traveled.
Vehicle Inspection Reports: Any business having (2) two or more trucks at or over 1.10,001 lbs. GVWR must fill out a Driver.s Daily Inspection Report.
F.H.U.T-Federal Highway Use Tax: Paid upon original registration and renewed annually for all vehicles at 55,000 lbs. GVWR and above.
IRP Registration: You must proportionally register your vehicle (s) if you travel outside your based plate state of registration and the vehicle is used, maintained, or designed primarily for the transportation of property, or used for the transportation of persons for hire, and is a power unit:
With a gross weight in excess of 26,000 pounds; or
With three or more axles regardless of weight; or
That hauls another unit and the weight of such combination exceeds 26,000 pounds.
Note: The manufacturer.s GVWR rating on the vehicle is the rating to be used for all above regulations. The vehicle cannot be registered to less to be exempt from DOT regulations.
